    All Nations Energy Summit

    Date: Friday, Jun 05 - Jun 06

    Location: Moricetown

    Venue: Moricetown Multiplex, 32 km West of Smithers

    Description:

    “Empower First Nations right to free, prior and informed consent on developments that would impact our Rights, Title and interest on unceded lands.”

    OUTCOMES:
    1. Nation-to-Nation discussions addressing:
    “Inadequacies of environmental review processes, renewed call for independent panel, or parallel First Nation major project review process”
    2. Reiteration of the moratorium on tanker traffic.
    3. Call for Moratorium on further tar sands expansion.
    4.Drafting collective resolution for First Nations Leaders to sign.

    Day 1 - June 5th: 12noon to 7:30 p.m. - First Nations Leaders and Representatives
    First Nation Leaders from “Tankers to Tar Sands” will share information and work with one another to address issues around consultation, accommodation, environmental assessment, community concerns, unity and collective strategies among us.

    Day 2 - June 6th: 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. - Public Event
    “Inform and Inspire”
    Keynote speakers and panelists representing all aspects of the Northern Gateway pipeline, tanker traffic, and Alberta tar sands will provide information to the public throughout the day to:
    -INFORM our Nations and northern communities of the potential environmental, legal, cultural and socio-economic, and cumulative impacts of proposed energy projects; look at sustainable energy options for the the north and,
    -INSPIRE our Nations on asserting our rights, title and interests that would best represent our traditions, history and culture, ensuring that we are not accepting economics over impacts. WE HAVE TOO MUCH TO LOSE.

    **Travel costs for First Nations delegates may be covered, subject to fundraising efforts. Contact event coordinators for more information and registration forms.**
